• Your card has expired or will expire in few months
• Your card is lost, stolen, or destroyed
• You didn’t receive your card within 180 days of immigrating to Canada
• You need to update your card
• You legally change your name
• You need to change your gender designation
• You need to correct your date of birth
It usually takes a few weeks to receive a PR card. However, there are some instances where you can get your PR Card’s renewal delayed and that only occur when you presented the wrong documents or insufficient documents during the renewal filing
In order to be eligible for a PR card, you need to:
• be a permanent resident
• submit your application in Canada
Note: If you are out of Canada and do not have a PR card when you enter Canada, you might not be allowed to enter Canada. We can help you apply for a PRTD document that allows a permanent resident to enter Canada in the absence of a PR card and once inside Canada, you can apply for a PR Renewal Card.
